-The Nawab visits Olivia regulary

-The British officials have a dinner; the main topic of the conversation is the topic “suttee”

-Olivia is in disagreement with the British officials. In her opinion, the “suttee” is part of Indian culture and religion and that the British have no right to adjudicate on the “suttee”

-Dr Saunders is in disagreement with Olivia. He thinks the suttee is barbarous
